Can my son receive packages at Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes?

My son is at Navy Basic Training in Great Lakes. His recruiter told him he could not take a watch with him, but in an information letter I rec'd from the Navy, it said I could mail him one. I mailed him a water-proof watch, US postal money order, stamps, pens, paper and envelopes about 5 days ago. Has anyone had any experience with this? Will my son receive this package? I hope he does not get in trouble because I mailed him these items. He called me when he first arrived at boot camp, but I have not heard a thing from him since. I'm very worried about him.Can my son receive packages at Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes?
You should get a letter in the mail about a week to 10 days after his first day. Not only do you call home you write a letter to. Don't worry this letter will be very bland and not seem like him at all. He is told what to write in his first letter home. After that every Sunday he will be allowed to write home. As for packages Do not send any food. He will open all packages in front of his RDC The RDC will look through it to make sure there is no contraband (Food, candy, gum,Tobacco, etc.) Then the recruit will have to stow it all in his A and B drawer. Think small junk drawer. About 3 inches deep 8 inches wide 12 inches long there are 2. That is his only personal space. Anything that doesn't fit is shared or thrown out. Other things you can send are a Bible(don't know your Religious beliefs... I'm just saying) Pictures, things of the nature you already sent. He is fine though I can promise that. Most likely you are going to get the letter of how much it sucks and how hot it is right now. How the food sucks and the RDC's are mean. But they will get more interesting. Also he should get 1-3 more phone calls home Usually last about 15 minutes.
ok first off do not worry! he will be FINE. and yes i would say you could send him a watch. but more importantly know that your son is completely safe, he is not a war he is just at camp. think of it as a child getting a small shot. he is no real danger. good luck with the watch hope this helps:-) byeCan my son receive packages at Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes?
It's better to just send letters of encouragement. It's so hard to keep up with stuff in basic that you might want to send a gift like a watch once he gets to tech school. Honestly, if you send it to him now, he may just have to stow it with personal property.
Hello Ma'am,

I'm in the Navy DEP, and should be shipping out pretty soon.I haven't gone to bootcamp yet, but, once I have that experience, I'll let you know..haha.Can my son receive packages at Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes?
I understand you're a worried mom, but you should try to think of it like this: "No news is good news." Not hearing anything means he's healthy and safe.

Not including the 5 minute call when first getting there, I think I only got to call home 3 times while I was at basic, and like others have said those calls have to be earned.

And that multiple choice questionnaire thingy is a good idea, I thought.
I wouldnt do it, just send him letters and money to buy things he needs there.
he should be able to.. i dont see why not.. i hope so.. good luck i know u miss him
He will get it.

He will not have much time to call or wright so if you do not hear from him it is OK. If he was hurt you will hear about it.

My son is in he last week of boot camp.
NO do NOT SEND FOOD OF ANY TYPE!!! he WILL get in trouble for that!!!!!

he will have to open all packages in front of the RDCs and if ANYTHING is in those packages they deem contraband or something he is not entitled to, he will be smoked for it and be unable to keep it.

The money order was useless, he will have no place to spend it until after Pass in Review. the stationary is fine. they may or may not let him keep the watch, depends on the style.

Another thing: don't expect phone calls, they must be earned. i got 2.. the least week of Boot Camp, and then only because he was off base for something and was able to sneak in a few moments.
He's just a little busy right now. Mail takes time. He'll be fine. You just have to get used to the idea he won't be at your beckon call anymore. He now belongs to Uncle Sam. He'll call you when he gets a chance. If anything happens, they'll call you. Have a nice glass of wine and be proud your son is serving.
Trust me, he will get his package. As a matter of fact, I'd like to say that you did a great job in picking out the right things to send to him. All of those items will be of great use to him. I don't recommend sending him candy or anything like that, though. We had to sit and watch a guy eat an entire box of cookies that his grandmother sent to him, and he puked his guts out. I recommend sending him letters that will motivate him and give him that extra push to try harder and succeed. If there are any negative things that occur while he's gone, do not mention it to him. There's nothing worse than being in bootcamp or at war and hearing about bad things happening back home. You've done the right thing, and I'm sure that your son will greatly appreciate the package you have sent to him.

As far as hearing from him, don't expect to hear from him often at all. When I was in bootcamp, we only had about ten minutes every night to write home, and that wasn't very long at all. Sometimes, depending on how well recruits accomplish their tasks and exceed the standards, they may be allowed a set amount of time to call their loved ones. I also recommend sending a phone card if you haven't already. He will be fine, and I know that you will be beaming with pride when you see your son marching across the parade deck as a new U.S. Sailor. I hope this has been helpful to you. Thanks.
he'll get the package...just remember if you send cookies to bake enough for everyone ;-)
Yes, he can receive packages from home. The instructors will watch him open them and make certain he gets no forbidden items.
Believe me, if he said he could have it, then he could have it. He would NOT want to chance getting in trouble, boot camp style, over a wrist watch, if he couldn't have one... and there's no way to sneak in something without the DI's seeing! Those guys notice everything!

Since you have his address, mail him letters.. lots and lots of letters... At least three every week... more if you can! In one of your letters, slip in a simple questionnaire for him to fill out, with the 10 most basic questions you have for him... give him multiple choice answers... some serious, some funny... and room to write back short little notes to each question... (Q: My DI... A: a) We all call him "daddy" b) an escapee from the local insane asylum c) a drag queen d) a demon from hell )

If he doesn't know what to write about, or doesn't think you care about the details of boot camp, he'll get the idea that you DO... and what kind of details you want... If he doesn't have time to write, then the questionnaire format will allow him to just circle the appropriate answer and send it back to you.. hopefully with little notes added, so you can get the flavor of how he's doing.

Hang in there! Boot doesn't last forever!
He can, but the only way he can keep them is if they are small enough to fit in his little personal drawer. So a watch should be fine.
Aww, the Navy has the wimpiest boot camp there is (other than the Air Force). He's doing FINE.

If you really want to get him in trouble, though, send him a batch of about 5 dozen cookies ... enough to share with the whole platoon. He'll be doing pushups while everyone else is chowing down ... CLASSIC!

Are postal workers always pushing the envelope?

Maybe if they would push a bit harder we would get our mail a bit sooner! Are postal workers always pushing the envelope?

  • Lots of Postal Mail?

I was told that i should get all my spam postal mail in one pile, mix it up and send back to the people that sent it (they supply nice return to envelopes) other junk mail.

This keeps the postal system working and helps them.

SO DO IT !!!!Lots of Postal Mail?
While it might make you feel better, it might not end up doing much.

I prefer to just Refuse the mail in the first place (just write Refused on it and put it back in the mailbox). That makes me feel better.

But the only thing to really stop it is the long tedious process of contacting everybody sending you mail and asking to be taken off their list, and asking them to stop sharing your name with other companies.

What should I pay someone to hand write envelops and mail out form letters?

I own a roofing company and I need to hire someone to hand address envelopes, stuff them with a form letter and mail them out. This person will be in charge of conversing with my sales team, getting necessary postal carrier routes and contacting my data base company for a list of addresses. The individual will be acquiring 1,000 addresses at a time. Should I pay per envelope, per 1,000, per hour? I've never done this before and I am just not sureWhat should I pay someone to hand write envelops and mail out form letters?
why are you hand addressing them?

Any computer %26amp; printer would be able to take the databased and create the envelopes.

I don't think you would EVER get a return on your investment if you are paying someone to hand write the addresses.

How do I send a Christmas card to California?

I grew up with emails and such, so Im not familiar with today's postal regulations. I live in Illinois right now, and want to send a Christmas card to a friend of mine in California. I need help with things like, where to buy stamps, what are the appropriate envelopes, how many stamps, and where should I drop it off to make sure it's picked up? I know this is silly having to ask this, but Ive never had to send an actual letter. Thanks for your help! How do I send a Christmas card to California?
get the envelope that comes with the card, address it and stick a stamp on it then stick it in your mailbox or drop it off at the post office. you wont need more than one stamp unless the card is one of those singing ones or you add a lot of extra papers or money or something

sorry edit to add you should reinforce the closure on the envelope with tape or a sticker to make sure it doesn't open during transitHow do I send a Christmas card to California?

    Mailing multi stamp envelopes?

I send things overseas regularly and like to put as many different kinds of stamps on the envelopes/packages as possible (not too much over the actual cost) as alot of my contacts like US stamps and their variety.

...Anyone know of a web site that, if you put in a postage amount, it will calculate the number of individual different stamp values, up to the amount needed...?

An example would be: postal cost is: $1.67. The stamp combination I could put on would be:

    3X.39 + .23 + .15 +, .09 +, .02 +, .01 = $1.67

(just looking for some kind of automated calculation program that would/could give me the same answer..)

    Thanks, MikeMailing multi stamp envelopes?
There are so many different stamp values that the combinations could be endless with larger values. You seem to have it licked on your own.

    Homemade cards and envelopes?

Hi! Holiday cards are so expensive these days... i want to get them out soon, so I'm thinking about making simple cards to send to my friends. Of course, if i make the cards, then i have to buy/make envelopes. I was curious about US postal laws.... is it legal to send mail that is a letter and an envelope at the same time? for example, a piece of 8.5x11" paper folded in thirds, addressed and stamped (and tacked down)??? Can I send abnormal shapes, such as a circle folded in half? what is allowed? what specifically is NOT allowed? what postage should i use?Homemade cards and envelopes?
Yes, you may send the folded over piece. I would tri fold it like you said. I have seen some that were just folded over once and they were too thin to mail or required a surcharge. It must be at least .007" thick to mail, for pieces more than 4 1/4" x 6" it must be .009" or it will require a non machinable surcharge of $.17. (see non machinable criteria in link provided)

Abnormal shapes, no, unless they are part of a mailing that is called Customized Market Mail. For that kind of mailpiece you must have a permit to mail those and they must be part of a mailing of at least 200 identical pieces, a lot of other rules apply to the abnormal piece also but I will spare you the details.

All letter mail must be at least 3 1/2" x 5" and no more than 6 1/8" x 11 1/2" and no more than 1/4" thick and must be rectangular in shape. Square pieces require additional $.17 postage. Anything smaller than 3 1/2' X 5" is not mailable. Anything over 6 1/8" X 11 1/2" or 1/4" thick is considered a flat and goes at a higher rate of postage. For your rate of postage your piece folded over 3 times that wieghs 1 ounce of less would be $.41. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions e-mail me.

See my answer to your other question - basically the same with a small additionHomemade cards and envelopes?
You should be fine to fold a regular size piece of paper into thirds and just mail that without an envelope. I've seen it done. (In fact, I think we sent out bridal shower invitations that way once and it worked fine.) Most other pieces that you suggested would probably be okay too, but the best way to know for sure is to take them to the post office and ask.

You should be able to buy envelopes at a craft store if you want to do that rather than make your own.Homemade cards and envelopes?
if you keep to a fairly standard size envelope (around A6) which is a quarter fold card then you should be okay.

  • The Postal Services created a stamp !!!?

The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of President Obama on it. The Postal Service noticed that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged the President, who demanded a full investigation.

After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional spending, a special Presidential commission presented the following findings:

    1. The stamp is in perfect order.

    2. There is nothing wrong with the glue.

    3. People are spitting on the wrong side. The Postal Services created a stamp !!!?

How long does it usually take mail from other countries to reach the Philippines?

I started exchanging mail again from other countries last 3 weeks. I sent several envelopes with stamps inside to different parts of the world. They've already received mine. But, one person from Japan and other from Poland whose letters I haven't received until now. They said they mailed theirs last May 13 and it's already June 1st. I'm worried that some corrupt postal servicemen have my mail somewhere. How long does it usually take mail from other countries to reach the Philippines?
It's hard to track mail without Register number, make sure you ask the sender to mail it Register letter, you will have a number to track the envelope. As for the time , if you don't get it within the next 2 weeks, you won't get it at all. Most likely was send back to sender for whatever reason( no apt#, no such number etc etc.How long does it usually take mail from other countries to reach the Philippines?
It all depends where you are and what kind mails you are sending out. It only takes few seconds or minutes if you send it through email, 1 or more days by international mail services, weeks or months by public surface mail service or never if there is cash inside the envelope. This is all I can say.How long does it usually take mail from other countries to reach the Philippines?
It depends from which country, The UK takes about 10 to 14 days...but Philippines post is not very trustworthy, unless recorded delivery.

Is UPS or US Postal Service cheaper?

Is UPS or US Postal Service cheaper for shipping? I'm re-using a small amazon box for the stuff. Is it cheaper using the small box or a large padded envelope? And I plan to use Media Mail Shipping so it's cheaper. Is UPS or US Postal Service cheaper?
    Hey Jasmine L,

The answer to your question of which one is cheaper...it depends!

If you're shipping packages that are less than 4lbs it's best to use USPS. You don't want to use UPS for anything less than 4lbs. Packages that weigh over 4lbs you'll want to ship UPS, because they're cheaper.

If you can get away with using a large padded envelope and package whatever you're shipping securely, then by all means use it. However if what you're shipping is fragile, I would go with the small box with plenty of padding (packaging peanuts).

Tip: If you're using USPS for shipping, always spend the extra for USPS Delivery Confirmation庐 Service. Find out when your item was delivered or when delivery was attempted using this Track %26amp; Confirm tool.

I needed to track a package a couple of times but couldn't because I didn't ship them with delivery confirmation. UPS automatically sends out it's packages with tracking so you don't need to purchase anything extra.

Be careful what you send by Media Mail. In other words, you can only send certain items via Media Mail. The material sent must be educational media (books). It can鈥檛 contain advertising, video games, computer drives, or digital drives of any kind. Media Mail can be examined by postal staff to determine if the right price has been paid. If the package is wrapped in a way that makes it impossible to examine, it will be charged the First-Class rate.

If the USPS suspects that a package contains an item that is not Media Mail worthy they will open your package and check. If they find the item is not on the Media Mail list, they will not ship the item to it's destination and charge you.

Hope this has been helpful! Is UPS or US Postal Service cheaper?
US postal service is cheaper (But will take longer time compare with UPS)

UPS is expensive but ship more fast

Which shipping method should i use for eBay?

Im selling my iPod and UPS shipping is too expensive so i want to use USPS. Do i use US Postal Service Parcel Post, US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, US Postal Service Priority Mail, US Postal Service Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box or something different? Also can i use my own box?Which shipping method should i use for eBay?
You can use your own box. The difference between Priority Mail and Parcel Post is usually about 30 cents in $5 for light packages. You probably don't want flat rate box for something that light because they are priced for what will fit. But you almost certainly don't want the envelope because it won't provide enough protection. Based on my limited experience, the cost of USPS for small packages is about the same as UPS for equivalent service so you may not save, but USPS is more convenient in their deliveries and protected by federal law. You can add to the cost of both services with insurance, etc.Which shipping method should i use for eBay?
I would get a small padded envelope. I ordered some PC RAM and it got here just fine.

  • How to write a Japanese address on an envelope?

I live in America, and I want to send my friend a letter for his birthday. What is the correct format of a Japanese address on an envelope?

And, will the Japanese postal service be able to understand the address if I write it in English?

Please give me examples of address in the order they would go on an envelope. Thank you so much! How to write a Japanese address on an envelope?
Yes, they will understand it. If you write it in "western letters" it is standard to write it as it it written in the west. Addresses vary based on where exactly they are. I'm outside of Tokyo (where the streets do not have names, very common here) and mine (in western letters) is written:

    Name

    Area, House #
    (City)-shi
    (Prefecture)-ken
    000-0000

But in Tokyo cities, there are wards and districts, so it is written (example pulled from wiki):

    Tokyo Central Post Office
    5-3, Yaesu 1-Chome
    Chuo-ku, Tokyo 100-8994

    or in other words:

    Name
    City Block-Building #, City District
    (Ward)-ku, City, Postal Code

And there are other slight regional variations. Read the wiki for complete info!!How to write a Japanese address on an envelope?

Postal Competition, do you support this?

Everyone is saying that Royal Mail are facing competition in the postal market, they are not. The Government has signed Royal Mail up to an uncompetiotive system that effectively forces the company to subsidise its competitors. There is no on street competition to Royal Mail, there is no alternive national mail infrastructure to Royal Mail. Royal Mail are the only company servicing the postal market that must guarentee a six day delivery span to evry address in the uk. Is that fair? Is it fair that TNT, DHL, UPS, Deutche Post, Hays DX, to name a few are allowed by the rules to go along to large companies and pick their mail up. They even supply envelopes with their logo on them. All these companies do is move the mail five or six miles to the nearest Royal Mail Mail Centre and dump it at Royal Mails door. After taking around half of the money for each letter these companies expect Royal Mail to sort the letters, move them around the country and deliver them. Competition? Aye so it is!Postal Competition, do you support this?
    I totally agree.

It's ridiculous that Royal Mail agrees to sort this letters and parcels at a loss. They are losing money every time they sort anything for the competition.

Most people who don't support the strike say that they will only lose business to the 'competition', the funny thing is that the competition needs Royal Mail!Postal Competition, do you support this?
None of the companies you mention will deliver a letter from lands end to john o groats for the price of a first class stampPostal Competition, do you support this?
since the government appointed a Regulator and formed Postcomm, the Royal Mail has been fighting a losing battle. the government have,in effect, signed Royal Mail away by opening up the market to tnt etc to cherrypick the best customers and charge less. this will stop as soon as Royal Mail goes under, then competitors charges will skyrocket and there will be no alternatives for posting.

How long does it take for mail to get to Honduras from the United States?

I mailed a letter to a friend in Honduras nearly two months ago, and I haven't got a response back from her yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for letters to get back and forth from the United States to Honduras? I'm aware that large envelopes and packages can be taken by the curious postal workers, but this was simply a standard sized envelope with only a letter inside. I realize that it takes a while but I'm wondering if anyone knows specifically how long it takes because I've been getting really anxious to receive this letter the last week or so. If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!How long does it take for mail to get to Honduras from the United States?
I think it can take up to 4 weeks each direction. I was visiting Honduras recently and we sent some postcards to friends back here in the States and they still haven't received them. That was about 4 weeks ago.

If you still haven't received anything in one more month or so, try sending another letter.

    Good luck!
I sent a package in December and it did not get there till the next August. We thought someone had stolen it or it got lost but months later theyt called and said it was recieved. Sadly the best thing to do is send stuff UPS or Fedex insured and 3-7 day delivery. One envelope cost me $50.00 to send

How long does it take for mail to get to Honduras from the United States?
I honestly dont know the exact amount of time, but it could possibly take a couple of weeks...no more than a couple of months though. Mail service sucks there. When we send packages they get there all beaten up and stuff..
I have friends there too and it takes anywhere from 2-3 weeks each way.....How long does it take for mail to get to Honduras from the United States?
Lol. This is why I don't mail letters. My cousin wrote to me from Honduras and it took nearly a month and a half from the date she sent it for me to receive it. I'm referring to regular postal mail. So I am assuming that it will probably take the same amount of time for you to receive a response. Hope this helps.

  • What is the difference between these two shipping methods?

    I wanna know what is the diff between;

-US Postal Service Express Mail Flat Rate Envelope

    and

-US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope

Which one is the one that comes normal in the mail. Thank YouWhat is the difference between these two shipping methods?
Both come in your mail. Express Mail arrives a single day after shipping and priority mail arrives 2-3 days after shipping. What is the difference between these two shipping methods?
    Both are not standard mail.

Express Mail usually arrives between 3-4 days.

Priority Mail would take up to 7 days to deliver.

Postal delivery to overseas around/at the strike?

My husband living in London sent bulk documents in a large-size envelope at a post office to me living in Norway on the 13th of October, but the series of the royal post strike has been on, and a 2days strike has been taken place since this Thursday.

I haven't received the documents, so I really wonder if they've been stuck somewhere in the UK, or did the post offices there deliver any mails/parcels before this Thursday? And if they've been stuck in the UK, do the post offices deliver their backlog in between the strike periods?Postal delivery to overseas around/at the strike?
As far as I am aware this could be classed as a packet in which case it would be dealt with Parcelforce and not Royal Mail .Parcelforce deal with all packets for overseas but still use part of the Royal Mail building to sort them.

What are the Indian postal rates?

How much does a normal size envelope cost to send within India and internationally?

    A FedEx Question regarding envelopes?

I asked my cousin to drop off an envelope with a bill in it at the post office. He ended up dropping that envelope in a FedEx box instead of the regular blue US Postal Service box.

What is going to end up happening to my letter? In order to drop an envelope off in a FedEx box, doesn't it have to have to be in the special FedEx envelope first?A FedEx Question regarding envelopes?
They will notice right away it doesn't scan into their computer system. They will probably return it to you or pass it on to the USPS.A FedEx Question regarding envelopes?

Can US Postal Service open your outgoing mail?

i've looked all over the internet for this simple question.

I'm sending a letter and pictures to my friend in Texas.

Let's say these pictures are very personal, the post office cant look at them right?

In an envelope. Not a package.

Does the post office look at what you're sending at all?

    They are NOT supposed to.....

However, there have been times when the envelope has been ripped open by a piece of machinery and it been sent onward in a different envelope with the original envelope, card and pictures I had sent.

  • Can I mail a letter in a patterned envelope?

I am mailing a letter and I want to make my own envelope out of patterned paper. I was thinking of gluing a solid color piece to write the address on so that it is readable. I have looked on the US Postal Service website and I can find no mention of patterned envelopes. It this alright? Will the pattern (which is fairly bold) interfere with the barcode that they stamp on the bottom of the envelope? Can I mail a letter in a patterned envelope?
Your envelope may be patterned as long as it is sturdy enough to hold together through the mail, the address is clearly legible, and if necessary the return address is clearly legible.

The barcode pattern should be clearly visible as long as you do not have black in the pattern. In any event, where the bar codes are not legible/scannable, individual envelopes are sorted by hand. Can I mail a letter in a patterned envelope?
I would definitely tape or glue a solid color piece. I sent one like that and it did eventually get there but really late. Can I mail a letter in a patterned envelope?

Can the Postal Service see what's in your mail?

    Can they?

For example: You put a ring in a padded envelope along with maybe a letter and send it as a normal postal mail. Without you telling them can they see/know the ring's in the envelope? Does letters go through certain process ?

Wasn't sure what to put this under... i.e letter going overseasCan the Postal Service see what's in your mail?
Yeah, they can. That's why you're not really supposed to mail cash and such. It can get stolen.

I mean, it just depends on the package. They don't go poking through mail, but if there's an obvious lump they could figure out it's a ring. Can the Postal Service see what's in your mail?

Bank of America $75 coupon in Postal mailing change envelope?

I stopped by the postal office and picked up a change of address form. Inside were coupons, one of which were for Bank of America. It says that if you are a new customer and open up a checking account they will deposit $75 into your account when you open it ... or at least they will "make every attempt to deposit the $75" is what the fine print says.

Has anyone used this and had it work? It also says that if Bank of America for some reason can't deposit the $75 into your account when signing up that they will mail you a check and credit you within 90 days. Sounds fishy. Has anyone done this successfully?Bank of America $75 coupon in Postal mailing change envelope?
Don't trust Bank of America not matter how much "free" money they wanna throw at you. You're much safer in times like these by establishing an account with a small, local credit union. Say NO to big banks, they're the ones who got us into this mess.

Has anyone received a Postal Voting form/info package lately?

For some reason, the Reply Paid envelope is to Anthony Albanese MP, who is the leader of the Electorate of Grayndler which my area is NOT even apart of.

Has there been some mistake or does everyone get the same package?

I'm not sending the form back - just curious.Has anyone received a Postal Voting form/info package lately?
MP's sending postal vote forms out unsolicited is just a sneaky , devious way of trying to get an advantage by conning people who are ignorant of the process into voting before they really understand about the other candidates or even party's policies...

It's all dressed up as if they are doing the community a service but it's nothing short of a rort ! Chuck it in the bin , do your own homework %26amp; vote for the candidate you feel will best be able to work for your community..
You can get a postal voting form from the electoral office - which is where you have to send it. Many MPs send out an application form to people in their constituency or one MP might send out forms to everyone. This is just a convenience. If you need a postal vote, you fill out the form and send it back and the MP's staff will lodge it with the Electoral office who will then send you the postal voting form. I needed a postal vote in the last State and Federal elections and the Liberal Party fixed me up for one of them while the ALP did it for the other. It saved me the bother of doing it all myself. It is just a convenience and if you need a postal vote, use it or don't it's up to you.

The people who organise the postal vote for you have no influence on how you vote and they never see the ballot papers that are sent to you. That is between you and the electoral office.Has anyone received a Postal Voting form/info package lately?
I got one from my local Liberal member - it was quickly torn up and binned. They do this every year, especially the Coalition members, to make you think they're doing something to help voters. But you still need to complete it and return to the AEC yourself.
My daughter received one the other day.. she's a first time voter..

Incidently, Aussie It came from the sitting Liberal Member in the seat... Sneaky buggar's those Liberals ( just joking ... I basically Bin ALL political B/S that comes into the house, labor, liberal or the Turkey Shoot Party...)Has anyone received a Postal Voting form/info package lately?

  • Is my postal mail going to be returned?

I recently mailed out an envelope and put a small object in it, about the size and shape of a package of gum. It stil weighs less than an ounce, and I put one stamp on it.

Is that okay that there is an object in there or will it be returned to my address for some reason?

I'm new to snail mail..Is my postal mail going to be returned?
I think that's too thick to qualify as a "letter". I doubt that it would fit through the sorting machines they use, so any of a few things could happen. It could be returned for insufficient postage (because it would be considered a "package" due to the thickness and therefore need more postage), it could get torn apart going through the sorting machine because it's too thick to fit through it, or someone might notice it's too big and process it by hand and possibly charge the recipient for the extra postage due. I suppose it could actually get delivered, but I think that's probably the least likely option.

Here's a website with the limitations on the size of a "letter": http://pe.usps.com/businessmail101/mailc鈥?/a>

The postal service lost my expense report that had $200 of reimbursement that I needed.

They might, ask them. I know how the post office is they have lost or they can't seem to find out where some things are. The postage price goes up and the service gets worse. I agree. The US Postal Service blows. Can I send Regular mail UPS?
No, they will not. You must pay them which may cost about 5.00 UPS Ground. USPS handles tons of mail daily, at times they lose mail. But I think its worth it to send an expense report for 5.00 and have tracking on it to know it got there. The US Postal Service blows. Can I send Regular mail UPS?
No they will NOT deliver it. They will just place it in a USPS box.
Nope. You need to put it in a UPS container (envelope, pckage). Too bad you couldn't scan your expense report and email it.

It will have 2 pieces of paper and two envelopes each with 1 piece of paper. Can I just send it in the little postal boxes on the street or do I need to go to a postal office? You'll need to take it in to the post office to find out how much postage it needs. A 6 x 9 envelop is considered oversize and requires more postage. If you mail it on Monday that will be plenty of time to be delivered by Friday. How do I send a fairly thin manila envelope?

You should have a receipt for the amount of the postal order and the number of the postal order,

you should have sent it special delivery as recorded only covers you up to 39 pounds the cashier should have told you that, i hope you just didnt go for the cheap option.

If you sent it to a business you should have got it crossed ifso thy can only pay it into their bank account and tht can easily be checked

if it was signed for, you can provide proof (a photocopy) of your receipt and the fact that it was signed for can be confirmed by royal mail to the guy

Hope this helpsEbay seller claims not recieved postal order?
From what I remember of postal orders they have a stub that the seller keeps, this has details of the PO number and you write on it the name of the person you made the PO out to. If you have this stub you can take it to a Post Office who gan give you proof if the PO has been cashed or not.#

If the PO hasn't been cashed you may be able to obtain a replacement, if it has been cashed you can contact Pay Pal/Ebay and get a refund/ the goods you ordered.
best to try to get hold of the manager by phone and speak to politely in person. it may not be either of your fault and is your best chance to sort it out rather than emailing each other..........

Perhaps you could call the postal order helpline on 08457 22 33 44 to see if the order has been cashed by the seller. If so then complain to ebay and the seller again.

It's a marketing piece - don't get sucked into anything you don't want.

    Sorry to disappoint you!
No, this is definitely a scam! I got one similar like last year, they try to get personal info out of you to rip you off, plus I heard that if you call the 800 number, they try to keep you on the phone long enough to jack up you phone bill sky high. Just put it through the shredder. What is this that just came in my US postal mail?
Yeah, it's not for real. You could probably get the trip but not without a going through a lot of trouble to get it. I get those in the mail sometimes too. Don't waste your time unless you want to go on vacation very badly! :)
It's probably a marketing gimmick, otherwise known as a junket. It is a way of getting you to visit a particular site or resort, time share condo, or land for sale then they put pressure on you to sign up to purchase it. It sounds good, but they will probably have you sit for hours watching films and presentations to convince you to buy something. What is this that just came in my US postal mail?
I live in Florida and I just got one of those $1600 vouchers in the mail. I checked the company with the State of Florida Corporations, Corporate Officer/Registered Agent Name List Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations- Corporations Online http://www.sunbiz.org/

hit the name or officers or registered agents or corporation name and enter any you like and you will find : Mr. Daniel Lambert, Mr. James Verrillo, Mr. Robert Tantalo, the predominant names are Lambert and Verrillo and the same lawfirm as registered agents:

Ellen Wasserstrom and the whole lawfirm on most if not all these businesses. They seem to all reside at the address of RPR/OFV 2419 E. Commercial Blvd, Ste. 100, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 33308 except the lawyer, but they are in Ft. Lauderdale also.

The funny thing is that Ramada Plaza Resorts which they claim to be is not a licensed corporation in the state of Florida, been dissolved voluntarily since 4/25/05 and it didn鈥檛 have an FEI number. They have several FEI鈥檚 under several other Corporations here in the state. You can look them up yourself. There are more than 4 pages of Daniel Lambert being involved with different corporations, just look at the names and you get the idea very quickly. SCAM. Also some other places list this as a SCAM, they take your card number and charge it immediately. If there's a $1,600 voucher in your name why do they need (1) your credit card, (2) any money.

It appears to be a $698 or some ridiculous figure. That's a lot of free to lose.

The list of corporations that these guys have been involved in is long and for a long time period. Name changes are easy, moving assets easy, you get the point.

The only thing I didn't check is whether or not they are really connected to Ramada as sales agents of some sort. They seem to be heavily involved in Timeshare, Cruises, Travel, etc. They are in Florida! Buyer Beware! Check everything!

  • Repubs: When will you end the US postal service, since it is such a horrible example of govt/bus competition?

Of course, those $9 mail envelopes from the commercial companies are going to get a bit pricey...Repubs: When will you end the US postal service, since it is such a horrible example of govt/bus competition?
First, it isn't the Republicans or Democrats that are keeping the US Postal Service going.

Second, the Post Office is not a government run business, it is supposed to be a whole self sufficient entity.

Third, the reason that government is involved with the distribution of the mail is that the private services UPS, FedEx, etc. are taking only the easy items. There is no private sector entity out there that will deliver a letter to the door of somebody in West Podunk, Vermont for $0.50.

When FedEx came along, they filled a gap that the post office didn't really address. After seeing that it's a multi billion dollar business, the post office is trying to catch up and get some of that money to help subsidize their mandate have a daily mail delivery service.

Everyone thinks that we all have access to email or texting or using the phone and that the mail service is ot dated and of no use. A lot of the country still doesn't use email. There are many businesses that send out bills %26amp; statements to their customers using mails. Many financial transactions are done using mail.

Personally, I think it is one of the better examples government %26amp; business competing while at the same time trying to continue to provide an expensive service at a relatively love price.
I already have. I haven't sent anything through the USPS in years. Pay all bills online and send packages via Fedex.Repubs: When will you end the US postal service, since it is such a horrible example of govt/bus competition?
    Repubs??

The post office is bankrupt without our help.
Most mail could be sent online. Packages obviously cant be. Maybe you accidentally have a point.Repubs: When will you end the US postal service, since it is such a horrible example of govt/bus competition?
Obviously you haven't read the Constitution. No surprise there.

One of the Powers of Congress authorized is "To establish Post Offices and Post Roads"
Are you implying that without government competition, the private sector will get out of hand and begin overcharging?

When will the government open their own WALMART?
I had them rip up two bills that I sent to PG%26amp;E in a row. I was never a fan of online bill pay, but it sure is more reliable than the post office. Not to mention all of the times that I have had mail just disappear completely and checks not show up. I don't know if Fed Ex or UPS is any better as I haven't used a whole lot of them but being that they haven't screwed me yet, I trust them more.

Seriously people...what condition do you have to where you trust the government and throw your blind faith their way?
    Competition lowers prices, genius.

The post office is full of job-for-life, incompetent future gun spree killers.

Do you think on a level playing field FedEx or UPS with its advanced logistics systems and tracking technology (not to mention employees who get fired if they cannot contribute to profitable success of the organization) would lose out to the f***ing post office?!?

Have you been to the post office lately. It is like walking into a school for the mentally retarded.
    Do you have a job?

Do you actually produce something you can sell to others without forcing them to get you tax money?

We all know that when the government is setting the rules and is backed by tax dollars, it will destroy, not compete with, the private sector.

The comparison of Cash for Clunkers and Freddy 鈥?Fanny Mae:

Is cash for clunkers just another version of the Democrat Debacle? How is getting Americans to turn in cars that are paid off and working fine helping Americans bottom line? This program is going to do the same thing as it did in the mortgage crisis and get people who can鈥檛 afford to buy something making payments that they were not making before.
The US Postal service actually is self sustaining.

For what 200 years it has pretty much provided the world with its business.

Technology has changed but the POST OFFICE can still take care of its own.
It seems many anti-Health-Care-Reform people do not completely understand how much of our system is owned by the government. Public schools, police, fire dept., etc...

I don't think most would convert all public schools to private schools. Nor do I think people would want police to be all employees of a company, whom you must pay extra to get full services, etc...

I'm not for complete socialism. But security, health, etc... should be covered by my government.
Republicans love smaller government. Which means businesses and corporations they love more. Less govt, more money!!!!
I would in a heartbeat. No one uses the postal service anymore but junk mail corporations and the US governement, and it is staffed by rude, overpaid people who don't get the fact that the "customer" in front of them is the very person who signs off their pay checks. I'm not happy with the amount of money that gets pumped into that sucker just so it can stay alive long enough to shove bills and ads into my box. I don't know what you mean about $9 mail envelopes-they must be made of gold, because envelopes where I am don't go over a dollar. E-mail is free.

    Peace
I fail to see how the Republicans are solely responsible the USPS.
Well if they lift the GOVERNMENT BAN of residential letter delivery, I would quite expect Fed Ex or DLS etc. to quickly figure out a free market solution and prices to drop

Hence the 7 billion dollar subsidy per year goes away also, making a refund $53.84 in every taxpayers pocket per year. (7 billion divided by 130 million taxpayers)
    I'll tell you a story.

There is a cafe located not far from the House of Reps. It's tasteful, healthy, pleasant, and delicious. The prices are fair, the waiters are well trained, and it makes a solid profit.

    It's privately owned.

The House quit subsidizing it about 20 years ago because the food there was so rotten, they didn't want to keep paying for it (it was orginally a government-run restaurant).

There is ANOTHER cafe near the Senate.

It's food is lousy. It's menu is terrible. It's service sucks and the prices are high.

This one is still subsidized by the Senate. Almost no one goes to eat there.

    The HOUSE cafe PAYS taxes.

This is what competition and private enterprise brings to the market.
They will get on here and lie, I assure you. "They refuse the mail delivered to them via the Post Office, and they never mail a thing from their mailbox." The biggest group of liars I have ever seen.
You realize that the US Postal Service is running in the red to a tune of ~$7 billion dollars right? And that's just for this year. Which of course is a great example of how the government can't run anything efficiently. Unfortunately, the federal government restricts the ability of UPS and FedEx to compete with the USPS, which the only reason it's still around. Not to mention, the USPS is subsidized by the federal government. If you're trying to make an argument for socialized health care based on the postal service you really need to look at how much the postal service costs the country and how inefficient it really is. I know you didn't say it but I assume that you are making some jab at health care.

If i mailed a envelope to someone via us postal service, and they live 40min away, hw lng till they get it?

i mailed it friday afternoon...If i mailed a envelope to someone via us postal service, and they live 40min away, hw lng till they get it?
Depends on where you mailed it and which processing center it goes to first. Service areas are broken up into districts and it can be 1 - 2 days, not necessarily counting the weekend.
They will have it by Monday or Tuesday. Usually mail can get their overnight. I live in a rural aread where it takes longer on the weekends. If i mailed a envelope to someone via us postal service, and they live 40min away, hw lng till they get it?
If you mailed it before the last pickup it should have been delivered Saturday.
Probably on Monday. If i mailed a envelope to someone via us postal service, and they live 40min away, hw lng till they get it?
It is likely it will take two business days. Assuming you hit the mail before the last pickup that day, it got to your local post office that same day and then went on to the next link maybe later that night, the central distribution point which may be as far as 100 miles away. Then it turns around and makes the same trip back to your local office, maybe arriving late Saturday, but in all likelihood, will miss the delivery that day, and it will sit until the next regular delivery day, Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a federal holiday with no regular delivery). If you meant Friday, the day before yesterday, then it will arrive tomorrow, Monday. My answer applies to any given Friday.
    Three days.
Depends. If they are in the same major zip code like 801xx they may get it in two days. If they live in another like 801XX to 805XX it can take over a week. This happens to us all the time and the edge of 805XX is only about 10 miles away but the mail has to travel over 150 miles to get there.
If its junk mail....Mailman will probably throw it in a dumpsters..It will get there late

I worked as an an envelope stuffer once, I ended up folding under pressure. Are postal workers always pushing the envelope?
not thru my mail slot, they're not..i've read about three stories so far of postal carriers who have a garage full of undelivered mail, dating back to the 90's.

i don't know where they get all this energy and the idea to go ballastic; the way they stumble around the offices all day, they must be in the suspended animation state, saving their strength for the big showdownAre postal workers always pushing the envelope?
They're brave enough to address their problems, but in the end, they get licked. Are postal workers always pushing the envelope?
    yep,

    to the letter
we'll have to stamp that out!

My mail person took an unstamped envelope containing a check from my locked mailbox. How do I get it back?

My friend left the envelope for me in my mailbox so it was not sent through the US postal service. The envelope does not contain my address, only my name. Does the mail person have a right to confiscate mail that is unstamped and left in a mailbox? My mail person took an unstamped envelope containing a check from my locked mailbox. How do I get it back?
yes, in fact your friend is not allowed to leave material in your mailbox, that is where it went wrong for you.

i'd hurry down to the local post office asap and explain the situation to the postmaster. depending on if you can get to the place where the initial sorting happens, maybe the letter can be found and returned.

edit - your best bet may be to contact your friend, have him/her contact their bank to cancel that check, and to bring you a new one (slipped under the door!)
uh...the only thing legally in that mailbox is mail. If it was there when he got there, it is by definition outgoing.

Check with the postmasterMy mail person took an unstamped envelope containing a check from my locked mailbox. How do I get it back?
U can try to contact the post master or speak with your mail carrier about it. BUT even though you may have paid for the mail box...I am with the understanding that the mailbox is the property of the postal service. That is also why paper carriers and people placing fliers are told its illegal for them to put things in the mailbox

Go to your local post office, I'm sure it was turned in there. My mail person took an unstamped envelope containing a check from my locked mailbox. How do I get it back?
Yes, your friend violated mail law by putting it in your mailbox, unstamped, once there, it was to be picked up by the mail person and into the mail stream. I thought everyone in the world knew that by now? Peace.
Well, since the only thing that is supposed to go into a mailbox it MAIL, then yes. The mailman is NOT going to go through your mail to see if it is actually mail or not! Good luck in getting the check back because I am sure it is long gone!
Confiscate? I think he/she probably accidentally picked it up, thinking it was outgoing mail, and without looking at it. Just call the post office in the morning and explain the situation. If you approach it with a nice, non-accusatory attitude, then you'll probably get more help finding your envelope.
Unfortuneately yes. When I was unable to pick up my mail for a week, my mail carrier actually removed mail she had already delivered to my mail box. I thought about getting a mailbox with a tiny slot after that...

How do you send a book by postal mail (United States Postal Service)?

i want to send a book by mail but i don't know what kind of envelope i'm required to buy? Also is it cheap? How do you send a book by postal mail (United States Postal Service)?
The enveleope only needs to be bigger than the book. No special envelope is required. Book rate (now called media mail) ranges from 2.38 to 5.50 depending on destination.

    http://www.usps.com/prices/media-mail-pr鈥?/a>

    -MM
You don't necessarily need an envelope. I typically send my books sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard (cut slightly larger than the book) and then wrapped in thick paper (a brown paper bag with no markings works very well). As long as you do not include any correspondence in the package (no notes, no invoice, no sticky notes) you can request to send the book by media mail. This is the cheapest way to send media (books, DVDs, CDs). The post office has the right to inspect your package and will return it without reimbursement if they find correspondence in the package. So, follow the rules and save a bit of money in the process.

www.connectws.comHow do you send a book by postal mail (United States Postal Service)?
go to your local post office and ask them what is the charge for sending your book. what will you need an envelope for. you need a package. you can buy a package from the post office. the might except one from elsewhere if it meets their requirements. the cost depends on the distance and the S%26amp;H. it'll be cheaper if you have discounts.
Use the USPS "Media Mail" classification. It is the cheapest way of postage for books and printed material.

You simply have to wrap the book in brown or white paper securely, and print the address and return address very legibly. How do you send a book by postal mail (United States Postal Service)?
Go to the post office. They'll tell you how much postage you need. Make sure the book is wrapped up in something like a christmas present. No more than a dollar I'd guess.
Depends on the size of the book, weight of the book, and how fast you want to to get there.

  • UK postal voting. Why is there a code on the voting ballot paper envelope? Do they track who you vote for?

Why also are there only voting for my area don't they have a form where you tick the box for Cameron / Brown / Clegg or are you just voting for the area representative? Sorry to sound dumb!!!UK postal voting. Why is there a code on the voting ballot paper envelope? Do they track who you vote for?
It's about tracking the paper, not who you vote for, so as to help prevent election fraud.

The way British Parliamentary elections work is that you are voting for who you want to be your MP, not for a party. Strictly speaking, parties are completely ignored at the election: each candidate is allowed six words to describe themselves on the ballot paper and of course candidates who belong to a party (it's possible to stand for election as an independent candidate without belonging to a party) will use that six words to give their party name. This is why your local candidates' names are in bigger print than the party names.

The Prime Minister is not directly elected in the way that the American President is. What happens instead is that the leader of the party that gets most MPs will be appointed Prime Minister by the Queen (or if it's Brown, he already is Prime Minister so doesn't need to be appointed again).

So if, say, you want David Cameron to be Prime Minister, you vote for whoever is the Conservative Party candidate in your area. You would only see his name on the ballot paper if you lived in Witney, Oxfordshire, as that is where he's the local Conservative candidate. Similarly you would only see Clegg's name on the paper if your constituency is Sheffield Hallam.

You don't tick the box, either - you're supposed to put an X in it!
Firstly, unlike in America you do not vote for the leader, you vote for your local MP. The party with the most MPs wins.

Secondly, they say they don't track who you vote for, but they probably do.

Its up to you who you vote for, but I'll be voting Conservative as they are the only ones who will make Britain great again.UK postal voting. Why is there a code on the voting ballot paper envelope? Do they track who you vote for?
they have to code on them because sometimes there intercepted by someone to vote for there candidate. so this way they can track were the vote actually came from.

you have to vote for a local MP for your constituency, this is how it all works, it's a little flawed, but better then most systems i've seen in other country's.
Well here in the US, we have machines that do the same called Diebold and it never fails!

They rig them to the best and in our last election, it was ACORN, ppl voting 2 or 3 times... it's ridiculous.UK postal voting. Why is there a code on the voting ballot paper envelope? Do they track who you vote for?
I have heard that the authorities can find out who u vote for. I work for Kirklees education authority and I am not voting if I was to vote bnp then I could be sacked as I work with different races and religions
I think so, what else would it be there for

So why would the police indiscriminately raid your home if you're not selling drugs? If you're not guilty of something why would you have anything to hide? It simply doesn't matter.

Would you send your gold to a postal gold dealer?

Besides the fact that they will probably rip you off, what sort of message does an envelope with ? Cash for Gold` etc say to dishonest postmen or women?Would you send your gold to a postal gold dealer?
NO. You will not get a good price, but if you did you could always insure it.

Hon, Google Cash for gold and see the long list of complaints on message boards about people sending them a 1500 dollar piece of jewelry and getting a check for 12 bucks. It's the norm for that "business"

If you want top dollar for your old gold, get your phone book out and find the nearest gold buyer/seller. You'll get a lot more for your gold that way then sending the stuff to a bs business like Cash for Gold.Would you send your gold to a postal gold dealer?
Abolutely not. It's the biggest rip off ever. Never sell gold to anyone other than an established dealer and then only directly over the counter. Established dealers are those gold dealers who have been in business for at least 125 to 150 years - trustworthy and reliable.

The other small point to bear in mind is that the gold price is set to hit the $3,000 per ounce any time soon, probably this year.

I would never send my "unwanted or broken gold jewelry" to one of those places. I'm sure they rip you off and go selll your jewelry for 600% more than they bought it for. I'd rather sell it myself on craigslist or something. I'm not about to send them a gold ring and get a $5 check int he mail.Would you send your gold to a postal gold dealer?
No, it always seems very "iffy" when I see over the hill "celebrities" on adverts which are intended to con us ! If, and it's a big if I had any spare gold hanging about, I would take it to a reputable local jewellers to get a price for it !
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh i HATE them, they prob spend more money advertising than they make in.

meh postal gold, cash 4 gold (and the other how ever many are out there).

and i never thought of that :s, it might shut them up but i wouldn do like you said theyd prob rip you off. x
My mum did and they offered a ridiculous low amount, which increased each time she said no. I thought that about the envelopes, why not just cut out the middle man and just put your rings and necklaces directly in the postbox.
They give you very little knowing that you need the money because you sent gold to just an address and you've already got a check in your hand, which is better than before you opened up their return envelope.
    Well there address is

No.The price of gold is at an all time high.If I wanted to sell I would go to a reputable dealer.

    Personally no
No. Who has 'unwanted' gold hanging around the house?
Of course, but, I am a postman and it's time for the childrens' school fees again soon.
    No way
    No I wouldn't.

I have misgivings about these postal gold companies.

Should we rename them Fences Are Us?

Steal the gold in the morning %26amp; post off in the evening.

The company wants no proof the said gold actually belongs to you.

It must be a godsend for burglars!

No, I hear someone say, no self respecting burglar would fall for that.

Doh, that's what alias are for or those in-line for a cut, who aids the thief.

So many companies %26amp; so many packets flying about no-one would bother to check them all,

least of all the gold buying company, they just want to make profit from the golds price hike.

Which Magazine did a survey, they brought gold from leading jewellers items worth

£ 100s %26amp; sent it away, they were offered a pittance in return, a fraction of its value.

To actually get the £ 10 %26amp; £ 20s flying about in the commercials you'd need to send a dustbin bag full of gold!

Their advice in the end was to sell to a recommended high street jewellers or even a pawn shop, who would give the seller better value.

Dishonest postal workers are the least of the sellers worries.

  • Was my package containing a batch of personal letters opened intentionally by the postal service?

I just got home to find in my mailbox a sealed plastic bag/wrapper containing a large envelope my sister mailed to me a few days ago. It contained a couple dozen folded, handwritten letters our father had written to our mother 50 years ago, and were of sentimental value. The wrapper was imprinted with "WE CARE," and message goes on to say they sincerely regret and apologize for the damage done to our mail, and the postmaster hopes we understand that these things sometimes happen due to the high speed of mail processing equipment. I say, "Bull hockey!" The flap had been neatly opened, not ripped or sliced. Everything SEEMED to be intact, but I have no idea. Neither my sister nor I ever counted the letters, or would be able to tell if any were missing. I really believe the envelope was x-rayed, flagged as potential terrorist communications, and intentionally gone through page by page. Am I being paranoid? I don't really care as much about the invasion as being told a bold-faced lie.Was my package containing a batch of personal letters opened intentionally by the postal service?
If she failed to completely seal the envelope the situation you described would have occurred. The post office would discover the open letter in the processing line and place it in the bag. Some people see conspiracies everywhere.
The company I work for sees a lot of this type of damage to mail. I was told it is because of new equipment used to process mail. The amount of mail we get returned for obscure reasons is incredible. I count my lucky stars if I were you simply because you did receive it.Was my package containing a batch of personal letters opened intentionally by the postal service?
Sure be nice to know what the hell BTW means..
They probably did it because it looked suspicious, although I don't know why it would look suspicious. It's the the govt since 9/11, going through mail, listening in on phone calls, etc...I think it's terrible to lie about the reason why they did it. Maybe they should get another stamp that says "We trashed your mail for your protection." I guess just consider it taking one for the team. Was my package containing a batch of personal letters opened intentionally by the postal service?
Back in the good ol' days mail used to be hand processed, sorted, distributed and delivered. In the last 10 years automation has forced the "human" out of the equation and now the only time a warm pair of hands or a living set of eyes actually touches or sees your mail is when it arrives at it's final destination. Your phone's not tapped and your mail's not being read. The sear volume is beyond singling out to invade a random individual's mail. More likely it was a random "accident". If you're still unconvinced ask for a tour of your area processing plant. Explain what happened in your case and get the answer directly from the horses mouth. You and anyone else will also get instructions on properly preparing mail acceptable for automation. Keep in mind some mail is perfect and still gets damaged because someone else didn't and that perfect mail gets caught in the melee of a jammed machine. What happens to a FedEx or UPS envelope that acidentally gets put into a blue US Postal Service box?

Sometimes when the postal worker gets the letters out of the box, if there is a FedEx or UPS box right next to it, they'll will place it in the correct box (FedEx and UPS will do the same when they find mail in their boxes). Most often however, the mailman will return to the post office with the competitors letter. The Post Office will then call Fedex or UPS and let them know they have one of their letters and ask them to come pick it up. Be warned though, I've seen the postal service hang on to one of these letters for a week before they call. What happens to a FedEx or UPS envelope that acidentally gets put into a blue US Postal Service box?

U.S. Postal Service- I am sending a manila envelope that is bigger than 9 by 12 inches. Can I send it?

To be more clear, what are the official rules now in sending manila envelopes bigger than 9 by 12 inches?

How do I avoid the postal service bending it? Do I write do not bend?U.S. Postal Service- I am sending a manila envelope that is bigger than 9 by 12 inches. Can I send it?
The Postal Service is not going to bend it. It is no longer called an envelope at that size. It is called a flat, or even bigger ones are called parcel. Go to the post office and mail it as first class. Depending on how heavy it is, it will be around $1 - $4. Just go in and ask them to mail it First Class. They will weight it and take care of it.U.S. Postal Service- I am sending a manila envelope that is bigger than 9 by 12 inches. Can I send it?

  • Is there a cheaper postal service in the Netherlands than TNT?

I have just got back from my local Utrecht post office. They tried to charge me over 9 euros to send an 11 gram letter to the UK (signed for). About a month ago, I was only charged around 7 for a large A4 envelope filled with papers.

9 euros to send a recorder letter across the water seems a bit steep, especially for a one page letter! Is there a cheaper postal service in the Netherlands than TNT?

TNT has the monopoly. When you have the opportunity to go to Germany: these things are much cheaper there. Is there a cheaper postal service in the Netherlands than TNT?
Not really. DHL is now trying to compete with TNT on the domestic market but the international servcies are still geared towards businesses. Still, you could ask.

Can you get into trouble for putting junk mail into those "business reply" envelopes?

I keep getting these emails that say to do it as it will help you get rid of your junk mail (obviously you don't put anything in it that has your name on it), charge the company money and help the Postal Service make money as well. I just want to know if these companies could try to get me for fraud or whatever. I don't want any trouble, but if the USPS can make some money and I can get rid of junk without having to throw it away or recycle it myself, I'm all for it!Can you get into trouble for putting junk mail into those "business reply" envelopes?
I love that. I send all pre approved spam back in their envelope with a no thanks. Someone is getting paid to open envelopes and the post office needs the business. I think what you are doing is a public service and I plan to follow your shining example. Can you get into trouble for putting junk mail into those "business reply" envelopes?
I usually boxed up a cinder block, taped the reply envelope on top, taped the letters "Y O U A R E G H O U L S" on the reply info and put that in the envelope, then took the whole mess to the post office. Now a friend who sent moose nuggets did get into trouble since it is illegal to send fecal matter by post office.

I am sure they could sue you, because almost anyone can sue almost anyone else about anything, but there is no law that you are violating. More than likely, a lawsuit would be branded frivolous.

But return of the envelope without any junk mail still triggers a charge from the post office, and it is what I started doing when I ran out of junked engine parts and broken building materials. Can you get into trouble for putting junk mail into those "business reply" envelopes?
Nope. I used to send back their trash along with more of my own.

I simply wrote REFUSED OFFER on the reply card and added it with my trash inside the envelope. Note: you cannot use the envelope as a mailing label on a package of trash.
